About

Kendall

Hi! I'm Kendall Gow

My own personal experiences and love for all things health, food and helping people has led me to my dream career of being a Nurse Practitioner.

I am an experienced urology, weight loss and diabetes Nurse Practitioner with a special interest in women and men’s sexual dysfunction. I hold a Bachelor of Science (Nursing), Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition) and Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) from Edith Cowan University. Additionally, I have completed a range of postgraduate courses in diabetes education, sports nutrition and sexology.

My journey in nursing began in 2011 at Hollywood Private Hospital, where I spent 11 years working in various specialties, including oncology, urology/gynaecology, general surgery, and diabetes education. This diverse experience has laid the foundation for my comprehensive understanding of healthcare. In 2021, I took on a part-time role in a urology private practice, focusing on patients diagnosed with prostate cancer undergoing rapid weight loss for surgery and continued lifestyle adjustments for their survivorship. By January 2022, I transitioned full-time into private practice.

I currently serve as an active member on the Healthy Male Health Practitioners advisory board and contribute to Healthy Male education platforms. I also hold active memberships with:

  • Australian Diabetes Educators Association
  • International Society of Sexual Medicine
  • Society of Australian Sexologists
  • Australian College of Nurse Practitioners, and
  • Australia and New Zealand Urological Society

Throughout my diverse roles, one constant has emerged – the body takes centre stage, regardless of health status, size, or age. I’ve learned to appreciate that every health journey, whether wrestling with weight issues, diabetes, or sexual difficulties, is profoundly personal. It is an honour to be part of these unique journeys. I am committed to listening to your story, understanding your challenges, and wholeheartedly supporting you at every stage of your health journey.

Outside of work, you’ll find me exploring new wine restaurants, walking the beagles, or engrossed in my next favourite podcast.

What is a Nurse Practitioner?

Nurse Practitioners in Australia are highly skilled and qualified healthcare professionals who have completed advanced education and training, at a Master’s level. They are registered nurses with specialized knowledge, enabling them to provide a wide range of healthcare services, including diagnosing and treating various medical conditions.

The title “Nurse Practitioner” can only be used by a person who has been endorsed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

What does that mean for me if I see a Nurse Practitioner?

  • Medicare rebates are available for every consult
  • Nurse Practitioners have authority to prescribe medications, including access to Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) medicines
  • Authority to refer patients to hospitals and Specialists
  • Able to order radiology and pathology, contributing to efficient and thorough patient assessments.

Seeing a Nurse Practitioner allows for a more comprehensive understanding of a patient’s health, facilitating accurate diagnoses and tailored treatment plans.
